Our outdoor fountains are made to enhance your garden and to capture your visitors’ attention. They come in many sizes, patterns and colors. If you would like your fountain to work for many years you need to take care of it regularly. Below are a few practical tips to help you keep your water fountain in top notch condition:
1. Water level - Always ensure the water level in your fountain is at optimum level. If at any point the water level gets too low, it places tension on the water pump. This will degrade the overall performance and function of the fountain. Keeping the water at its optimum level is essential to keep the fountain working properly.
2. Checking the Pump - Once a month you should inspect your water pump. Because the water pump is always working, the pump requires some regular maintenance. This includes removing any lime scale, rust or dust particles from the pump. Changing the water regularly can reduce some of the build-up. The pump is the most important part of the fountain, since its sole job is to pump the water through the fountain. If the pump is not maintained, it will not work for long. A user manual comes with the water fountain, which will give you specific instructions as to your particular pump.
3. Seasonal Areas – Outdoor water fountains are sometimes vulnerable to colder weather. When the water freezes it can get blocked in the pump, which can form cracks in the fountain. These cracks will become worse or further widen and will damage your fountain. Make sure to remove unwanted leaves, dirt or branches, dead rotten plants or leaves on a regular basis. Such debris accumulates in the fountain and produces an unwanted odor and can reduce your pumps efficiency.
